Greenlanders Give Vance the Cold Shoulder
Here's the news: The real reason Trump’s Vance visit to Greenland was cancelled: “they’ve been going door-to-door”
Of course this whole "visit" was a soft power exercise in intimidation.
The US sent an advance team of US operatives in to knock on doors and get people to show up welcoming and greeting the Vance's, but no Greenlander would cooperate. Nobody was going to show, so it was cancelled.
TV 2 Denmark’s correspondent in Greenland, Jesper Steinmetz, reported that U.S. representatives had spent several days ahead of the visit going door-to-door in Nuuk – literally – asking residents if they’d be willing to host or welcome the vice president’s wife. Not one person said yes.
These American operatives must stand out like a sore thumb. I wonder if they were just recently sent in or if they are now stationed in Greenland for the duration. I'm trying to imagine lobbyist types from Washington DC, mucking about in cold and snowy Greenland. Do they have Danish spies following them about? Or is it undercover Greenland police detectives?
If Trump's words and threats were not so serious this would all be more amusing. In the meantime, I feel sorry for the people of Greenland. They have done nothing wrong and were not doing anyone any harm and they get this kind of threat and clown show.
